Juan De La Mora

UPDATED Head shot_JDLM.jpg

Juan De La Mora is a multidisciplinary artist based between Chicago and Guadalajara with a background in architecture. His practice bridges the disciplines of art, design, and the built environment—moving fluidly between public space and institutional contexts. Internationally, his projects span from large-scale facades and urban interventions to exhibitions in museums, installations, and collaborations with architectural firms and cultural organizations.

De La Mora’s work interrogates the relationships between nature, culture, and spatial experience. Rooted in a rigorous research-based methodology, each project evolves from a deep engagement with site, context, and materiality. The subject matter determines the media and formal outcomes, resulting in a body of work that is materially diverse yet conceptually cohesive. Whether through ephemeral street art or enduring architectural installations, his work invites reflection on shared cultural narratives and ecological interdependence.

In addition to his studio practice, De La Mora is committed to education and dialogue—frequently leading workshops, lectures, and collaborations with students and institutions. His work serves as a platform for critical inquiry and cross-disciplinary exchange, reinforcing the role of art in shaping public consciousness and built environments.
